Abstract
A novel 3-D-printed wideband core-plug embedded quarter-mode dielectric resonator antenna (QMDRA) is presented in this letter. Reduced size and broadside radiation for the presented antenna are obtained by exploiting the magnetic field symmetry of the fundamental TM01δ mode. Wideband behavior is obtained by leveraging the core-plug embedded configuration. The antenna has been fabricated taking advantage of the free-form factor of the 3-D-printing technology and employing high-dielectric ceramic filaments. The strong agreement between simulated and measured results shows an impedance bandwidth ranging from 4.31 GHz to 9.24 GHz (73%), a maximum realized gain extending from 5 dBi to 7.05 dBi, and high efficiency (∼90%) for an antenna as small as 0.21λ0 × 0.21λ0 × 0.25λ0.
期刊介绍:
IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters (AWP Letters) is devoted to the rapid electronic publication of short manuscripts in the technical areas of Antennas and Wireless Propagation. These are areas of competence for the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S). AWPL aims to be one of the "fastest" journals among IEEE publications. This means that for papers that are eventually accepted, it is intended that an author may expect his or her paper to appear in IEEE Xplore, on average, around two months after submission.
