Abstract
Ceramic coatings were fabricated on 2195 aluminum-lithium alloy via micro-arc oxidation (MAO) and then modified by high-current pulsed electron beam (HCPEB) irradiation. The microstructure, corrosion behavior, and wear performance of the coatings were systematically investigated. The results indicate that α-Al2O3 remains the dominant phase both before and after HCPEB treatment. HCPEB treatment increases coating density and reduces porosity to 8.48%, while coating thickness remains nearly unchanged. Compared with the untreated substrate, the MAO-HCPEB coating exhibits approximately 85.56% reduction in corrosion pit depth, along with a notable reduction in corrosion area. Electrochemical tests reveal that both MAO and HCPEB treatments improve the corrosion resistance of the 2195 Al-Li alloy, and the MAO-HCPEB coating exhibits superior corrosion performance. In addition to enhanced corrosion resistance, the MAO-HCPEB coating also demonstrates superior tribological performance, which is mainly attributed to the reduced porosity. These results demonstrate that MAO-HCPEB composite surface modification can effectively endow 2195 Al-Li alloy with enhanced corrosion resistance, hardness, and wear resistance.
