Abstract—The mechanical behavior of carbon-filled plastic plates and plates made of carbon-filled plastic–titanium nickelide hybrids imitating spring elements of dynamic ankle foot orthoses (DAFO) has been investigated. It has been found that according to the stacking scheme and number of carbon fabrics layers, the elasticity modulus varies from 12.4 to 97.0 GPa and the proportionality limit changes from 115 to 703 MPa. Hybrids of two types have been considered: (i) a structure consisting of screwed nickelide titanium and carbon-filled plastic plates and (ii) a hybrid composite with a carbon-filled plastic matrix reinforced with 2.2 × 2.2-mm titanium nickelide rods. It has been shown that both the hybrid structure and carbon-filled plastic–titanium nickelide hybrid composite are promising for DAFO production. These materials combine good elastic, strength, and damping properties with a lesser number of carbon fabrics layers (from three to five) than in the case of nonreinforced carbon-filled plastic.
期刊介绍:
Russian Metallurgy (Metally) publishes results of original experimental and theoretical research in the form of reviews and regular articles devoted to topical problems of metallurgy, physical metallurgy, and treatment of ferrous, nonferrous, rare, and other metals and alloys, intermetallic compounds, and metallic composite materials. The journal focuses on physicochemical properties of metallurgical materials (ores, slags, matters, and melts of metals and alloys); physicochemical processes (thermodynamics and kinetics of pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical, electrochemical, and other processes); theoretical metallurgy; metal forming; thermoplastic and thermochemical treatment; computation and experimental determination of phase diagrams and thermokinetic diagrams; mechanisms and kinetics of phase transitions in metallic materials; relations between the chemical composition, phase and structural states of materials and their physicochemical and service properties; interaction between metallic materials and external media; and effects of radiation on these materials.
