Abstract

The article evaluates the effectiveness of different kinematic schemes for line-by-line surface plastic deformation of cylindrical parts made of Steel 45 using finite-element modeling (Ansys Workbench). Comparative analysis showed that the grid hardening scheme provides the best surface-layer quality characteristics: the maximum hardness increases to 292 HB, which is 9% higher than that obtained with the longitudinal scheme, while the intensity of compressive residual stresses reaches 335 MPa, which is 10% higher. It was established that a rational grid angle of 45° between plastic tracks forms a favorable anisotropy of mechanical properties (Kα = 1.27), which retards fatigue crack propagation. The influence of the scale factor on processing effectiveness was identified, and a correction coefficient for the deforming force was proposed. The computational assessment confirmed a 20% increase in the fatigue strength margin of the part when using the developed hardening technology.
