Abstract
It is known that alloying diamond-like coatings with transition 3D metals allows for significant modification of their structure and tribomechanical properties. The article compares Ti- and Cr-alloyed diamond-like coatings in real tribotests. The coatings were applied using the ion-plasma method using a BRV600 vacuum unit onto a 40KhN steel substrate by means of synchronized operation of an arc discharge and a pulsed laser. The mechanical characteristics of the samples were determined using the continuous indentation method on the NanoTest 600 measuring platform. It is noted that the mechanical characteristics of coatings depend significantly on the technological modes of coating application. Tribological tests were carried out using a ball-on-disk design, where a corundum ball served as the counterbody. Alloying diamond-like coatings with 3D transition metals has a significant effect on the tribological characteristics of the friction unit. All the examined samples had a low friction coefficient of 0.13–0.2, and the Cr-alloyed diamond-like coating demonstrated exceptionally high wear resistance.
