Abstract
In this research, we report on the analysis and optimization of the detection performance of an original nanodesign for a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor, with a view to several applications in the fields of processing and diagnostics. Our enhanced SPR nanodesign is built on a Kretschmann hybrid configuration, consisting of a BK7 prism, a Cu film interleaved with a WO\(_{3}\) layer, and covered with a hybrid multilayer of perovskite oxide combined with a monolayer of graphene or black phosphorus, as well as the sensing medium. The finite element method (FEM), associated with an excitation at 633 nm, is used to analyze the plasmonic properties of the nanodesign. We analyze performance parameters such as detection sensitivity, sensitivity enhancement, figure of merit (FoM), and electric field distribution. Firstly, the study focuses on optimizing the effect of different layers of nanomaterials and their thicknesses on surface plasmon resonance and SPR biosensor performance. A detection sensitivity of around 576 deg/RIU and a FoM of 175.07 RIU\(^{-1}\) were found. These performance values are enhanced by 500% and 13.06% respectively, relative to those of a conventional SPR sensor (BK7/WO\(_{3}\)/Cu/SM). Subsequently, we modeled the SPR biosensor optimized in this work to show how plasmon resonance and detection performance are affected by the refractive index of infected and normal blood samples containing plasma. The current SPR design can be used in highly sensitive biomedical and environmental detection and diagnostic applications.
500% and 13.06% respectively, relative to those of a conventional SPR sensor (BK7/WO\(_{3}\)/Cu/SM). Subsequently, we modeled the SPR biosensor optimized in this work to show how plasmon resonance and detection performance are affected by the refractive index of infected and normal blood samples containing plasma. The current SPR design can be used in highly sensitive biomedical and environmental detection and diagnostic applications.
期刊介绍:
Plasmonics is an international forum for the publication of peer-reviewed leading-edge original articles that both advance and report our knowledge base and practice of the interactions of free-metal electrons, Plasmons.
Topics covered include notable advances in the theory, Physics, and applications of surface plasmons in metals, to the rapidly emerging areas of nanotechnology, biophotonics, sensing, biochemistry and medicine. Topics, including the theory, synthesis and optical properties of noble metal nanostructures, patterned surfaces or materials, continuous or grated surfaces, devices, or wires for their multifarious applications are particularly welcome. Typical applications might include but are not limited to, surface enhanced spectroscopic properties, such as Raman scattering or fluorescence, as well developments in techniques such as surface plasmon resonance and near-field scanning optical microscopy.
