Abstract
Xenophysogobio nudicorpa is a small benthic cyprinid endemic to the upper Yangtze River. This study evaluated the effects of first-feeding diets, formulated feeds, water temperature, and flow velocity on larval and juvenile rearing performance. Larvae fed a combination of rotifers and Artemia nauplii achieved the highest survival (90.5%) and balanced growth. For juveniles, a high-protein diet (≥50% crude protein) significantly improved growth (SGR: 0.427%/day) and survival (90%) compared to lower-protein diets or frozen bloodworms. Optimal environmental conditions were identified as 17–19°C and a flow velocity of 20 cm/s, both yielding approximately 90% survival. These findings provide the first comprehensive rearing protocol for this species, supporting conservation aquaculture efforts.

International in perspective, Aquaculture Research is published 12 times a year and specifically addresses research and reference needs of all working and studying within the many varied areas of aquaculture. The Journal regularly publishes papers on applied or scientific research relevant to freshwater, brackish, and marine aquaculture. It covers all aquatic organisms, floristic and faunistic, related directly or indirectly to human consumption. The journal also includes review articles, short communications and technical papers. Young scientists are particularly encouraged to submit short communications based on their own research.
