Abstract

Inequalities in education, health, technology and social status are often studied in isolation. This Focus issue shows how these inequalities are interconnected in the real world, and how competing views of fairness shape the responses to them. To reduce inequality, we need more research on the drivers: how complex interactions among individual beliefs, institutions, technologies and environments widen the gaps or create opportunities for change.
