Abstract
We report the synthesis and photophysical characterization
of two
spirofluorene xanthene-functionalized benzimidazolylidene platinum(II)
complexes with bis(3-methylpyrazolyl)borate and bis(3-trifluoromethylpyrazolyl)borate
auxiliary ligands. Both complexes were synthesized from a μ-chloro-bridged
bimetallic intermediate in 40% and 72% yields. Photophysical investigations
revealed green-blue emission with CIE coordinates of (0.16; 0.23)
and (0.17; 0.27), and photoluminescence quantum yields of 63% and
58%.

Organometallics is the flagship journal of organometallic chemistry and records progress in one of the most active fields of science, bridging organic and inorganic chemistry. The journal publishes Articles, Communications, Reviews, and Tutorials (instructional overviews) that depict research on the synthesis, structure, bonding, chemical reactivity, and reaction mechanisms for a variety of applications, including catalyst design and catalytic processes; main-group, transition-metal, and lanthanide and actinide metal chemistry; synthetic aspects of polymer science and materials science; and bioorganometallic chemistry.
