Abstract
A physics-guided inverse design framework combines physical insight with adjoint optimization by placing dense control points in the phase-near-matched region. This guided strategy yields a 20 μm III–V-on-silicon coupler with 98.11% efficiency, > 80% efficiency at 1.1 μm misalignment, and record high tolerance per unit length.
