Abstract
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are primary pollutants that pose threats to both the human health and the environment. Among the various methods for mitigating NOx emissions, selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) is as a widespread and effective method. However, traditional catalysts such as vanadium-titanium catalysts face challenges in meeting the requirements to remove NOx at low temperature. In this study, iron-manganese ore that is widely available and inexpensive was used as deNOx catalyst in flue gas at low temperatures, which exhibits outstanding low-temperature SCR deNOx performance, achieving nearly 100% deNOx efficiency within the temperature range of 80–180°C. The optimal preparation and operating parameters of the iron-manganese ore were determined and its deNOx mechanism were revealed iron-manganese ore via experiments and density functional theory calculation.

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering (CJChE) publishes original research articles, new theoretical interpretation or experimental findings and critical reviews in the science or industrial practice of chemical and biochemical processes. Preference is given to papers having a clearly indicated scope and applicability in any of the following areas: Fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, multiphase flows, separations processes, thermodynamics, process systems engineering, reactors and reaction kinetics, catalysis, interfacial phenomena, electrochemical phenomena, bioengineering, minerals processing and natural products and environmental and energy engineering. Papers that merely describe or present a conventional or routine analysis of existing processes will not be considered.
