Abstract
This protocol describes an assay for Photodynamic Inactivation of the plant-pathogenic filamentous fungal species Botrytis cinerea. Grey mold (B. cinerea) occurs worldwide and affects over 200 different crops. Several resistant strains of the species have been collected on fields in past years. Here, mycelial spheres are used as a three-dimensional model to mimic the mold's hyphal structures. The protocol is intended for comparative evaluation of antifungal efficacy of different variables, such as different photosensitizers, concentration dependence, and illumination parameters.
