Abstract

The surface plasmon polariton (SPP) modes in metal-dielectric waveguides show a specific development pattern which can be described by Schrödinger-type envelope equations during paraxial operation of the system. Employing the collective variable (CV) approach, this work looks into the soliton-like dynamics of a coupled one-dimensional Schrödinger system that shows how plasmonic modes interact with each other. By finding the key degrees of freedom, the high-dimensional coupled system is simplified to a limited number of evolution equations that control the amplitude, temporal position, width, chirp, frequency shift, and phase of the plasmonic wave packets. A thorough graphical analysis of these parameters is shown, drawing attention to how they change over time in the direction of propagation. To further understand how these factors are connected, correlation analysis is used on all of them. The CV method efficiently captures the main physical characteristics of coupled plasmonic mode propagation with much less computational complexity. This gives useful information for the analysis and design of plasmonic waveguide and nanophotonic devices.
