Abstract
A magnetic composite hydrogel was developed as a novel adsrobent for magnetic solid-phase extraction of aflatoxins in corn prior to high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection. The material integrates Fe₃O₄ magnetic nanoparticles, NH₂-UiO-66, imidazolium-based ionic liquid, and chitosan hydrogel, forming a multifunctional adsorbent with enhanced adsorption performance. Benefiting from the synergistic effects of π–π interactions, hydrogen bonding, electrostatic attraction, and hydrophobic interactions, the composite hydrogel exhibited excellent affinity toward aflatoxins. Under optimized conditions, rapid adsorption equilibrium was achieved within 3 min. The proposed method showed good linearity (R2 > 0.9985), with limits of detection of 0.1–0.5 μg/kg. Spiked recovery experiments in corn samples yielded satisfactory recoveries ranging from 74% to 113% with relative standard deviations between 3.8% and 19.7 (n = 3). The developed method provides a simple, rapid, and reliable approach for trace determination of aflatoxins in complex cereal matrices.
