Osteoporosis secundarias

Abstract

Secondary osteoporosis is the loss of bone mass resulting from certain diseases and medications. Its clinical presentation differs from that of primary osteoporosis, as it occurs in younger patients of both sexes, may be more severe, and is associated with a higher prevalence of fragility fractures. Early diagnosis of the associated disease is essential for etiological treatment, to assess individual fracture risk, and to tailor anti-osteoporotic therapy.
