Abstract

The application of resource allocating technology to multi-beams satellite system can effectively achieve higher throughput. This letter investigates the joint scheduling of physical layer and power resource for the Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite Internet of Things (IoT). We propose the resource scheduling model aimed at maximizing system throughput by taking into account the constraints of time, frequency, and power resources and parameter optimization of the IoT Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) channel conditions. For the multiple-choice multidimensional knapsack problem (MMKP), the non-convex optimization problem is decomposed into subproblems for each timeslot and selects the optimal set of IoT users. Specifically, we propose a joint physical layer and power resource allocation (JPPRA) algorithm based on channel conditions. Furthermore, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves superior system capacity than other scheduling schemes.

The IEEE Communications Letters publishes short papers in a rapid publication cycle on advances in the state-of-the-art of communication over different media and channels including wire, underground, waveguide, optical fiber, and storage channels. Both theoretical contributions (including new techniques, concepts, and analyses) and practical contributions (including system experiments and prototypes, and new applications) are encouraged. This journal focuses on the physical layer and the link layer of communication systems.
