Abstract

With the advancement of hypersonic vehicle technology, aero-optical effects on airborne imaging have attracted considerable research attention. However, prior research has primarily focused on stable aberrations and the influence of hypersonic flow fields on aero-optical mechanisms under various boundary conditions, while the dynamic characteristics of these effects and aberrations remain comparatively underexplored. This study investigates the dynamic features of aero-optical effects by analyzing their spectral properties and aberration variations over varying exposure durations. The influence of changes in Mach number, altitude, and angle of attack on these dynamic characteristics is thoroughly examined. This study also assesses the temporal accumulation of aberrations in the image plane during exposure. The findings reveal that the average primary frequency of aberrations is notably higher than that of the aero-optical effects. Optimal image quality is achieved within an exposure duration of approximately 81–82% at a fixed altitude. In most instances, third-order polynomial linear regression effectively models image quality variations with increasing exposure durations, with fitted results yielding R$^{2}$$\geq$0.85. This study offers practical insights for improving imaging system design and exposure control to mitigate dynamic aero-optical distortions in hypersonic applications.
In most instances, third-order polynomial linear regression effectively models image quality variations with increasing exposure durations, with fitted results yielding R$^{2}$$\geq$0.85. This study offers practical insights for improving imaging system design and exposure control to mitigate dynamic aero-optical distortions in hypersonic applications.
