Abstract
Where deep brain stimulation (DBS) has become an established and well tolerated therapy for Parkinson's Disease, essential tremor, and dystonia, its effectiveness in other hyperkinetic movement disorders remains unclear. The quantity and quality of evidence for these disorders continues to grow as more reported patients, meta-analyses, and registry studies are established. In this mini-review, we will discuss the current evidence for the use of DBS in Tourette syndrome, tardive syndromes, genetic choreiform disorders, myoclonus-dystonia, and secondary tremor syndromes.
