Abstract
Fundamental and special qualities of heteropolyacid salts (Polyoxometalate) make them suitable for the design of solid heterogeneous catalysts at atomic and molecular levels. Here in the current study, two cerium-based heteropolyacid (HPA) salts, incorporated with nickel/tin salts of lacunary Keggin-type heteropoly acids, have been synthesized by the precipitation method and used as a catalyst in the alkylation reaction. These two salts Cerium (III) tintungstophosphate (CeSnWP) and Cerium (III) nickeltungstophosphate (CeNiWP) are characterized by various instrumental techniques for their elemental, morphological, spectral, and stability properties by using FTIR, UV, SEM, XRD, EDS, BET, and TGA techniques. All these analyses confirm the various characteristics of semi-crystalline HPA salts with appreciable surface area (CeNiWP salt-220.058 and, in the case of CeSnWP 154.002 m2/g) capable of supporting a reaction as a catalyst. Additionally, the pore volume of CeNiWP was calculated to be 0.063 cc/g, and CeSnWP had a pore volume of 0.331 cc/g. These salts, along with some previously synthesized salts, were utilized in the alkylation of toluene with benzyl chloride to evaluate and compare their catalytic efficiency.
期刊介绍:
Catalysis Letters aim is the rapid publication of outstanding and high-impact original research articles in catalysis. The scope of the journal covers a broad range of topics in all fields of both applied and theoretical catalysis, including heterogeneous, homogeneous and biocatalysis.
The high-quality original research articles published in Catalysis Letters are subject to rigorous peer review. Accepted papers are published online first and subsequently in print issues. All contributions must include a graphical abstract. Manuscripts should be written in English and the responsibility lies with the authors to ensure that they are grammatically and linguistically correct. Authors for whom English is not the working language are encouraged to consider using a professional language-editing service before submitting their manuscripts.
