Abstract
In the current work, stainless steel mesh was coated with a Keggin-type heteropoly acid (H3PW12O40) and carbon nanotubes (SSM/CNT/HPA) using the sol–gel process and characterized by FT-IR, FE-SEM, EDS, TGA, XRD, and BET analyses. This new heterogeneous nanocomposite was used to synthesize chromene derivatives via multi-component reaction. Easy separation of the catalyst from the reaction mixture by a pair of tweezers is the most important advantage of the current work and make it a unique choice for organic transformations. Furthermore, the designed catalyst had features such as high surface area, stability in the air and reaction medium, reusability without significant reduction in catalytic performance, and high efficiency in multi-component reactions.
