Abstract

We present an organic electrode design for capacitive deionization that enables high-capacity electrochemical desalination with minimal energy and carbon footprint, driven by a crab-inspired ion capture mechanism. This unique coordination geometry enhances Na+ mobility and adsorption, while the dual-arm architecture promotes electron delocalization, paving the way toward sustainable desalination technologies capable of addressing global water scarcity.
