Abstract
Brucellosis is the most common zoonosis in the world, with Brucella melitensis being the main isolated species. Despite this, only two cases of infection by this pathogen have been described in Colombia, none of them with osteoarticular involvement.
We describe three cases of B. melitensis infection that debuted with spondylodiscitis, arthritis and myelitis, respectively, managed with combined antibiotic therapy and associated with surgical treatment, achieving clinical cure. This highlights the presence of B. melitensis in Colombia and raises the possibility of underdiagnosis of a species that before 2020 was considered absent in the country.
