Abstract
Fe3+-, Ni2+-, and Co2+-doped SnO2 nanoparticles were synthesized via a modified co-precipitation method with simultaneous introduction of precursor salts and surface-modifying agents, and subsequently employed as interfacial stabilizers in multifunctional Pickering emulsions. The surface-modified nanoparticles self-assembled at the oil – water interface, forming photocatalytic droplets capable of dye degradation and partial decomposition of diesel residues from contaminated water. Comprehensive characterization supported by spectroscopic analysis and quantum-chemical modeling elucidated the influence of dopant type and surface modifier distribution on photocatalytic activity and charge separation efficiency. The resulting doped SnO2-based emulsions exhibited high stability, recyclability, and sustained activity under visible light, demonstrating strong potential for integrated water purification systems under environmentally relevant conditions.
