Lewis is superfluous and should be replaced with the name <i><b>Psorodendron wheeleri</b></i> (Vail) Rydb. (1919), which was based on the earlier species name <i><b>Parosela wheeleri</b></i> Vail (1897). And the taxon <i><b>Psorothamnus emoryi</b></i> var. <i><b>arenarius</b></i> (Brandegee) Barneby (1977) should be treated as <i><b>Psorothamnus emoryi</b></i> var. <i><b>tinctorius</b></i> based on the autonym <i><b>Dalea tinctoria</b></i> var. <i><b>tinctoria</b></i> Brandegee (1889), which has priority. The correct name for this taxon would thus be <i><b>Psorothamnus emoryi</b></i> var. <i><b>tinctorius</b></i> (Brandegee) M.F. Wojc. & G.P.
