Abstract
To improve the stability of finished product quality, it is necessary to use powder adhesives capable of maintaining their basic properties over a long period, unlike liquid adhesives, which typically have a shelf life not exceeding 6–8 weeks. Since such adhesive is produced in powder form, and most modifiers and fillers are also produced as powders, dosing and mixing the required amount of adhesive components is also more efficiently done in powder form. Modification of such adhesive becomes more “flexible”. The obtained adhesive compositions were studied using chemical, X-ray diffraction, differential thermal, and electron microscopy analysis. A method for measuring the thickness of the adhesive joint using a cryogenic method has been developed for two types of binders: powder urea–formaldehyde resin and modified powder urea–formaldehyde resin. Rational technological regimes for facing wood materials using modified powder adhesive compositions based on urea–formaldehyde resins have been determined. The reduction mechanism lies in the sorption capacity of shungites. The toxicity reduction effect of urea–formaldehyde resins when shungites are introduced is enhanced due to their interaction with water, which releases atomic oxygen that oxidizes formaldehyde.
