Abstract
The electromagnetic properties of chiral silver nanotubes, which act as subminiature solenoids due to their helical geometry, are studied. The electronic structure of two rows of nanotubes (\({{n}_{1}}\), \({{n}_{2}}\)), where n1 = 10 and 5, and 0 ≤ \({{n}_{2}}\) ≤ \({{n}_{1}}\), is calculated using the cylindrical wave method. The band structures of all tubes are characterized by half-filled spin-dependent dispersion curves that intersect the Fermi level and determine the metallic type of the electronic structure of the compounds and the number of electron transport channels. Methods for using these nanotubes in electrical circuits are proposed. The formation of a constant magnetic field inside the nanotubes at a constant voltage is predicted. An alternating external magnetic field generates an EMF and oscillations of the electron current in the tubes. An alternating voltage applied to the tubes induces electromagnetic radiation. Nanotubes can be used in nanoelectronics as electromagnets and nanoantennas that receive and transmit in the X-ray range.
