Abstract
Persistent postural perceptual dizziness (PPPD) is characterised by chronic instability and intolerance to visually complex environments, reflecting excessive visual dependence and multisensory integration dysfunction. This paper proposes a pathophysiological interpretation of PPPD. EEG/EOG recordings during stimulations in front of the Panoramic Stereoscopic Panel (PPS) were performed and emphasised the appearance of a centro-parietal alpha rhythm in healthy subject, interpreted as a marker of the harmonious physiology of the integrative mechanisms. For PPPD patients, this rhythm does not appear and suggests a dysplasticity of the integrative mechanisms. The PPS rehabilitation centered on the key-mechanism of a reinforcement of the visual parvocellular pathway by inhibiting the visual magnocellular and vestibular pathways allowed most often the reappearance of this centro-parietal alpha rhythm.
