Oral Myiasis of Maxilla - A Case Report.

Abstract

Abstract: Myiasis is a rare disease primarily caused by the invasion of tissue by larvae of certain dipteran flies. Common predisposing factors are poor oral hygiene, halitosis, trauma, senility, learning disabilities, physically and mentally challenged conditions. A 40-year-old female patient reported with pain in the maxillary anterior region with difficulty in chewing since 1 month.The clinical examination revealed the presence of maggots which helped in arriving at the diagnosis.The possible causes, clinical features and treatment has been discussed.
