Abstract

Predicting the residual performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures under specific damage states is critical for developing restoration and retrofitting strategies. This study proposes a model updating method for damaged RC structures incorporating actual damage states. Specifically, a numerical modeling approach for damaged RC structures is developed based on OpenSEES, along with a method for updating the material parameters of damaged RC components. A mapping relationship between material damage and component damage is established to facilitate practical engineering applications. The proposed method is applied to a 5-story, 4-span RC frame, followed by seismic fragility analysis of undamaged and damaged frames. The results reveal that damage significantly reduces the seismic performance of RC structures, with performance degradation becoming more pronounced at higher limit states.
