Abstract

Coccidian parasites are significant emerging contributors to the changing aetiological landscape of diarrhoeal diseases, primarily affecting individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds. They pose a great threat to the immuno-compromised in whom co-infections may lead to considerable morbidity and mortality. Timely detection is essential for improving clinical outcomes; however, comprehensive data on associated risk factors, transmission routes, and socio-demographic patterns remain limited. Modified Ziehl-Neelsen staining confirmed the presence of co-infection of Cryptosporidium and Cyclospora species in our series of 14/185 patients.
