Abstract
Objective: The objective of this review is to map the delivery of mental health care to Black university students formally enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at public or private higher-education institutions.
Introduction: The prevalence of common mental disorders among Black university students is higher than their non-Black peers. Although there is evidence of the influence of ethnic-racial issues on mental health care for this group, mapping and identifying existing gaps will support actions and programs aimed at reversing racial inequities in mental health.
Eligibility criteria: This review will focus on studies focused on the delivery of mental health care for Black university students in the global context. Studies on students on extension courses, postdoctoral researchers or professionals, and other similar conditions will be excluded.
Methods: A scoping review will be conducted in line with JBI methodology. Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, MEDLINE, BVS, EBSCOhost, ProQuest Central, and PsycINFO databases will be searched. For gray literature, the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global, Dart-EBSCO Open Dissertation, and Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations will be searched. Two reviewers will independently screen and select the sources of evidence. No limits will be applied to the date of the search or language. The results will be synthesized descriptively and presented in tabular or diagrammatic format.
