Abstract
Terahertz metasurfaces provide a compact platform for miniaturizing optical systems, holding significant importance in 6 G communication, imaging, and information processing. Here, we propose that a periodic metasurface achieves switching between broadband half-wave plate and broadband absorption by leveraging Ge₂Sb₂Te5 (GST) phase transition. Furthermore, phase-gradient metasurfaces are designed through the geometric phase principle. The linear phase distribution design enables a switchable effect between anomalous reflection within the 3.8–6.6 THz frequency band and broadband absorption across the 2.7–8.5 THz band. Notably, the metasurface can support a wide angular range of up to 60° for efficient anomalous reflection. The orbital angular momentum (OAM) metasurface with a helical phase distribution exhibits dual broadband vortex beams in terms of l= -1, with a maximum purity of 0.964. The proposed multifunctional metasurfaces provide a robust solution for realizing compact and integrated terahertz architectures.
