Abstract
The X-ray crystal structure of protodelphin, a blue metal complex pigment of the blue flowers of Salvia patens was investigated using reconstructed protodelphin. The results demonstrate that protodelphin is a tetranuclear (4Mg2+) metal complex, in which two Mg2+ ions chelate to six anthocyanin molecules, while the other Mg2+ ions bind to six flavone glycoside molecules.

Manuscripts that detail the isolation of just one new compound are not substantial enough to be sent out of review and are out of scope. Furthermore, where pharmacology has been performed on one new compound to increase the amount of novel data, the pharmacology must be substantial and/or related to the medicinal use of the producing organism.
