The history of medicine spans over 3,000 years, from prehistoric times through the Babylonian era, the Arabic period, the Enlightenment, and into the Modern Digital Age. Despite many advancements, the Scalpel remains the First instrument that a surgeon reaches for, to begin an operation. This article delves into the history, significance, and role of the Scalpel, observing how it has withstood the test of time and continues to be indispensable despite the rise of high-tech surgical procedure. Observation is the key to identify the relationship of Surgeon and Scalpel, an inseparable one.
