Abstract
Four metastable β-Ti alloys, with nominal compositions of Ti-27Nb-5Zr-5Cr, Ti-27Nb-5Zr-2Cr, Ti-27Nb-5Zr-5Cr-2Fe, and Ti-27Nb-5Zr-3.5Mo (wt.%), were fabricated via intermittent laser powder deposition (ILD). The influence of Cr, Fe, and Mo on the microstructure and mechanical properties was systematically investigated. The results showed that all four alloys exhibited excellent strength-ductility synergy, with Ti-27Nb-5Zr-5Cr having the best strength-ductility product (17.2 ± 0.2 GPa·%). When the Cr content was reduced, both solid-solution strengthening and β phase stability were weakened, ω phase precipitation was promoted, and twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) was enhanced. Although the elongation (EL) remained unchanged, the yield strength (YS) and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) decreased to 592 ± 26 MPa and 685 ± 18 MPa, respectively, corresponding to only 87% and 90% of those of Ti-27Nb-5Zr-5Cr, and the strength-ductility product decreased by 17%. The addition of 2 wt% Fe further enhanced β phase stability and solid-solution strengthening, increasing YS and UTS to 690 ± 11 MPa and 799 ± 4 MPa. Notably, the β phase in Ti-27Nb-5Zr-3.5Mo was more stable, and this alloy achieved the highest YS and UTS (710 ± 10 MPa and 814 ± 32 MPa), but the lowest EL and strength-ductility product (15 ± 3% and 11.9 ± 2.4 GPa·%).
期刊介绍:
Vacuum is an international rapid publications journal with a focus on short communication. All papers are peer-reviewed, with the review process for short communication geared towards very fast turnaround times. The journal also published full research papers, thematic issues and selected papers from leading conferences.
A report in Vacuum should represent a major advance in an area that involves a controlled environment at pressures of one atmosphere or below.
The scope of the journal includes:
1. Vacuum; original developments in vacuum pumping and instrumentation, vacuum measurement, vacuum gas dynamics, gas-surface interactions, surface treatment for UHV applications and low outgassing, vacuum melting, sintering, and vacuum metrology. Technology and solutions for large-scale facilities (e.g., particle accelerators and fusion devices). New instrumentation ( e.g., detectors and electron microscopes).
2. Plasma science; advances in PVD, CVD, plasma-assisted CVD, ion sources, deposition processes and analysis.
3. Surface science; surface engineering, surface chemistry, surface analysis, crystal growth, ion-surface interactions and etching, nanometer-scale processing, surface modification.
4. Materials science; novel functional or structural materials. Metals, ceramics, and polymers. Experiments, simulations, and modelling for understanding structure-property relationships. Thin films and coatings. Nanostructures and ion implantation.
