Abstract
Graphyne, a two-dimensional carbon allotrope, has emerged as a promising material with unique structural and electronic properties, expected to revolutionize multiple scientific and industrial domains. This paper critically examines the applications and innovations associated with graphyne, emphasizing its potential as a game-changer in fields such as nanotechnology, energy storage, catalysis and optoelectronics. We explore the synthesis challenges and strategies, highlighting breakthroughs in scalable production methods that pave the way for broader adoption. The discussion extends to graphyne's superior properties, including its tunable bandgap, high carrier mobility and exceptional mechanical strength, which offer significant advantages over traditional materials like graphene. Additionally, we evaluate recent advancements in theoretical modelling and experimental validations that guide the development of graphyne-based devices. The analysis underscores the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to address remaining challenges, such as stability under operational conditions and integration into existing technological frameworks. This study provides a comprehensive perspective on the transformative potential of graphyne, fostering innovation and inspiring future research in advanced material science.
