Abstract

Frontline nurse leaders play a critical role in shaping clinical care, team culture, and patient outcomes in acute care settings. Developing nursing leaders through engagement, mentoring, and leading initiatives provides experiential learning. This paper describes the creation and impact of a nurse advancement and strategy council on 3 site wide initiatives co-led by a nurse manager and director. All initiatives showed improvement across the annual survey domains as well as process completion. The council fostered structural empowerment at the individual, unit, and organizational level by providing leadership opportunities beyond the manager’s direct scope with supportive director mentorship.
