Abstract

Optical Antennas

A nanosphere(Cu2O)-film(Au) hybrid resonator traps a visible photon and funnels the energy to creation of an electron-hole pair in gold. The resonant enhancements enable monitoring of interband transitions in Au for single Cu2O particles. The reverse process, fluorescence from gold, is also observed for single particles with giant Purcell factors.
