Abstract

This study developed and validated an in situ Full Spectrum Analysis (FSA) method using a NaI(Tl) detector for environmental radiation monitoring in Ho Chi Minh City. Mean activity concentrations of 238U (21.8 Bq kg⁻1) and 232Th (33.8 Bq kg⁻1) were near or below global averages, while 40K (57.8 Bq kg⁻1) was notably depleted. Anthropogenic 137Cs was negligible. Derived radiological hazard indices, including an average outdoor annual effective dose of 0.04 mSv y⁻1, were well within international safety limits. The findings confirm the method’s utility and indicate a low terrestrial gamma radiation risk in the surveyed urban areas.
