Abstract

We evaluated accuracy of ICD-10 code Z51.5 in identifying subspecialty pediatric palliative care (SPPC) among decedents at a single center. The code showed excellent sensitivity (98.6%) and specificity (87.8%) for SPPC involvement. Z51.5 is a reliable proxy for SPPC in administrative data, supporting utility in pediatric research on end-of-life outcomes.
