Arabic Copenhagen Burnout Inventory: Psychometric Evaluation in a Midwife Population.

Abstract

Background and Purpose: Burnout among midwives is an increasing concern due to the high emotional demands of their profession, exposure to traumatic events, and challenging workplace conditions. This study examines the psychometric properties of the Arabic version of the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) in practicing Jordanian midwives. Method: The validity, reliability, and factor structure of the CBI were assessed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Results: The EFA identified a well-fitting three-factor model comprising personal, work, and client-related dimensions, which explained a substantial portion of the variance. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the construct validity of this three-factor structure, with model fit indices within acceptable ranges. Reliability analysis demonstrated strong internal consistency for the overall scale and subdimensions, confirming the robustness of the burnout assessment instrument. Conclusion: The Arabic CBI is a suitable instrument for assessing burnout.
