Compared with polydopamine nanoparticles, the mechanochemical approach offers a more flexible chain-like structure, thereby enhancing its antioxidant performance. Furthermore, this approach also enables the preparation of a melanin-like alternating copolymer that exhibits green fluorescence owing to its <i>π</i>-conjugated structure.
