Abstract

This research aims to gain a deeper understanding of the role of the project implementation context in the multidimensional success of international development projects (IDP). More specifically, it examines how the project implementation context influences both project management success and project impact while considering the mediating role of stakeholder engagement. To achieve this, the research relies on primary data collected from 342 stakeholders in Senegal. The findings indicate that the project context exerts a positive influence on both project management success and its impact. Additionally, the results highlight the mediating role of stakeholder engagement in the relationship between the project context and its multidimensional success. Finally, the article presents several managerial implications and suggests directions for future research.
