Abstract
This article highlights the pivotal role of PET-computed tomography (PET-CT) in diagnosing and managing fever of unknown origin and infectious diseases. Its high sensitivity in detecting metabolically active lesions allows precise localization of occult infections, guiding interventional radiology (IR) procedures such as biopsies and drainages. PET-CT also enhances assessment of treatment efficacy and facilitates early detection of residual or recurrent infections. Advances in infection-specific radiotracers and hybrid imaging technologies promise further improvements in diagnostic accuracy and procedural planning. Effective integration of PET-CT into IR workflows, supported by standardized protocols, can significantly improve patient outcomes through targeted, minimally invasive interventions.
