Yet, there are outstanding questions regarding the role and modality of revascularization required to improve outcomes. Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction in the developed world. An evolution of background medical therapy over the past decade has spurred improvement in symptoms and a reduction in morbidity and mortality with ischemic cardiomyopathy.
