This article briefly explores the historical milestones of influenza vaccine development, tracing its evolution from early inactivated vaccines to modern formulations. It also examines the annual inclusion of specific virus strains in vaccines, detailing the codename system for strain identification. In tropical regions like Southeast Asia, the need for influenza vaccination is debated due to continuous exposure; however, evidence supports its efficacy in reducing disease burden.
