Evaluating the diagnostic value and prospects of genomic and mutational sequencing in malignant transformation of oral leukoplakia

Importantly, we conducted a pooled-analysis on the mutation frequencies of the common oral cancer driver genes extracted from individual studies. The most common mutation gene was found to be <em>TP53</em> (26.26 %; 95 % confidence intervals (CI), 20.61–32.82 %), followed by <em>NOTCH1</em> (23.23 %; 95%CI, 17.87–29.61 %), <em>FAT1</em> (16.67 %; 95%CI, 12.08–22.52 %), and <em>CDKN2A</em> (10.61 %; 95%CI, 6.98–15.73 %). Collectively, it is promising to establish molecular subtyping and risk stratification of OLK patients using genomic and mutational sequencing. The precedent journal of the JDS is the Chinese Dental Journal (CDJ) which had already been covered by MEDLINE in 1988. As the CDJ continued to prove its importance in the region, the ADS-ROC decided to move to the international community by publishing an English journal. Hence, the birth of the JDS in 2006. The topics covered by the JDS include all fields of basic and clinical dentistry. Some manuscripts focusing on the study of certain endemic diseases such as dental caries and periodontal diseases in particular regions of any country as well as oral pre-cancers, oral cancers, and oral submucous fibrosis related to betel nut chewing habit are also considered for publication. Besides, the JDS also publishes articles about the efficacy of a new treatment modality on oral verrucous hyperplasia or early oral squamous cell carcinoma.
