Abstract

A simple and cheap method for the simultaneous determination of two dyes by digital image colorimetry using a smartphone camera is developed. A prototype of a specialized box that allows reducing the contribution of scattered radiation to the measured signal to the noise level of the digital image sensor is created. The proposed approach is tested in determining synthetic food dyes in carbonated beverages. The accuracy of the results of determining dyes in beverages by digital image colorimetry and spectrophotometry differs insignificantly.
