Abstract

Paediatric retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) is a safe and effective option for managing renal calculi in children, offering high stone clearance with minimal complications. Technological advances, especially in miniaturized flexible ureteroscopes, have improved its feasibility in paediatric patients. However, challenges remain due to smaller pelvicalyceal systems and shorter urethral lengths. To address this, we conceptualized a novel paediatric flexible ureteroscope with a reduced shaft length, shorter bendable tip, and optimally sized working channel to enhance access and facilitate laser lithotripsy. This report presents the first global clinical experience with this innovative device, which may revolutionize paediatric RIRS for urologists worldwide.
