Abstract

The Cover Feature illustrates the shift from traditional (–)-menthol extraction from mint to synthetic menthol production, driven by the rising demand across the pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food industries. In their Research Article (DOI: 10.1002/cssc.202500515), M. Eisenacher and co-workers introduce an innovative, sustainable synthesis method for (–)-menthol, using renewable turpentine as an alternative to predominantly fossil-based raw materials, offering a greener solution for this key aroma compound.
